NEODYTE develops an integrated manufacturing platform that transforms rare earth materials into high-performance NdFeB magnets through tightly controlled metallurgical processes, powder metallurgy, precision manufacturing, and comprehensive quality assurance. Designed for industrial-scale production, every stage is engineered to deliver consistent quality, scalable output, and long-term manufacturing capability.
Manufacturing Excellence Through Process Integration
High-performance NdFeB magnets cannot be built on material access alone. Performance is determined by precise control at every stage of production, from alloy preparation and powder processing to magnetic alignment, sintering, machining, surface protection, and final inspection.
NEODYTE’s manufacturing approach is built around process integration, production repeatability, and industrial-scale quality systems, delivering magnets that meet the demanding requirements of defense, energy, transportation, automation, semiconductor, and advanced manufacturing applications.
Integrated Manufacturing Process
Stage 01
Oxide-to-Metal Conversion
Production begins with the conversion of high-purity rare earth oxides into usable metallic form. NdPr oxide is processed through metallothermic reduction or molten salt electrolysis under controlled conditions, including inert atmosphere and integrated safety systems, to produce NdPr metal with the chemical consistency required for high-performance alloy production.
Stage 02
Alloy Preparation and Powder Production
NdPr metal is combined with iron, boron, and selected heavy rare earth additions through strip casting, producing NdFeB alloy with rapid solidification and uniform microstructure. The alloy is then processed through hydrogen decrepitation to produce coarse powder, followed by jet milling under inert atmosphere to achieve the precise particle size distribution that determines final magnetic performance.
Stage 03
Magnet Fabrication and Sintering
NdFeB fine powder is aligned within a controlled magnetic field and simultaneously compacted, then further consolidated through cold isostatic pressing to achieve uniform density. The green compact undergoes vacuum sintering at controlled temperatures followed by post-sintering aging heat treatment and surface finishing, producing a sintered NdFeB magnet optimized for magnetic strength, mechanical integrity, and dimensional accuracy.
Stage 04
Testing and Characterization
Every sintered magnet lot is subject to comprehensive testing across three parallel tracks: magnetic testing via BH loop tracers and magnetometers, chemical analysis through OES and composition verification, and structural analysis using XRD, microstructure evaluation, and density measurement. Results feed into a QC decision gate. Lots that do not meet specification are returned for rework. Only material that passes all three tracks is graded, packaged, and released as finished product.
